How are learners assessed?

For the new Levels 1, 2 and 3 in Sports Leadership the Learner Evidence Record is a mandatory document and must be completed for all learners.

With regards to other Sports Leaders UK qualifications you have flexibility on how to assess your learners; the most common assessment methods are:

  • Observation
  • Questioning of underpinning knowledge - either verbal or written
  • Notes or planning work completed during the course
  • Performance of set tasks
  • Simulation
  • Video/photographic evidence

The assessment methods used should be dependent on your learners and assessment criteria.

What are special considerations?

These are considerations to be given to Learners if an illness, injury or some other vent outside of their control has a material impact on their ability to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and understanding.

Our qualifications allow ongoing assessment so if a learner is affected for one assessment the Centre should allow the learner another assessment opportunity.

For more information see the Statement of Principles in Applying Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations

Can the Learner Evidence Record be completed electronically?

Yes your learners are welcome to fill in their Learner Evidence Records electronically. However, your learners will still need to complete an authenticity confirmation. There are two ways in which this can be done:

  • A centre can complete a whole cohort authenticity sheet which all learners sign and date to confirm that all work within their LER is their own.

  • A centre can print off the individual authenticity sheets (found within the LER's) to keep in their admin files, again with the learner’s signature and dates.
