Sports Leaders UK changes lives. By training as sports leaders, young people and adults learn new skills, gain confidence and find a positive new life.
Sports Leaders UK work in 90% of secondary schools in the UK, but it cannot reach all. Donations and fundraising help Sports Leaders UK carry out important work in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. Building on a track record of engaging children and adults in the 30% of most deprived wards of the UK as measured by the Government's Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD).
In these places, low educational attainment, poor housing and high unemployment and crime rates make lives far more difficult. These factors are often made worse by inadequate transport systems, poor recreational facilities and almost inevitably result in a downward spiral for the community.
Sports Leaders UK can make a real contribution to community improvement. By learning how to communicate effectively and taking the lead, children, young people and adults become positive role models. Using planning, organisational and motivational skills, they encourage others to become more active and enjoy themselves, building up active, vibrant communities in the process.
Making a contribution to Sports Leaders UK sends ripples through communities. Every sports leader volunteers hours of service in their community whilst in training and most continue to use their news skills once they have qualified.
In addition to one-off contributions, direct giving through regular donations is a valuable way of supporting Sports Leaders UK and making a real impact.
